Dr. Schick's Tick Tweezers are expertly engineered and constructed in Germany, so you are assured of the finest quality and durability.  Sold for many years in German pharmacies and widely used by German pediatricians and veterinarians, Dr. Schick's Tick Tweezers, with its innovative design, allows easy and efficient removal of ticks.

Why They Work

bulletSpecially designed tweezer tips insure a firm, steady grip that will not slip off or otherwise release an embedded tick.
bulletStrong, spring-loaded mechanism holds the tick tight so user can easily rotate the tweezers and remove the tick.

This method of grasping and rotating removes the entire tick, including the mouth parts (often mistakenly assumed to be the head) which are embedded in the host's skin. That's why you should try to avoid removing a tick with ordinary tweezers or your fingers.  Either method can squeeze the tick, causing it to regurgitate its potentially infectious fluids back into the skin.

How They Work

bulletPress the button to open the tweezer tips.
bulletPlace tips over embedded tick just below the head if the tick is engorged or on the abdomen if the tick is not (see illustration).
bulletSlowly release the button to firmly grasp tick.
bulletRotate Dr. Schick's Tick Tweezers 2-3 times counter clockwise until the tick lets go.

After removing the tick, you should always disinfect the bite site with alcohol. It is now recommended that ticks that have been removed from a host be kept alive in a jar or vial with a damp paper towel for 4 weeks in the event that the host develops symptoms indicative of a tick-borne illness. The tick can then be examined and the appropriate treatment prescribed.

Correct use of the Dr. Schick's Tick Tweezers, while reducing your risk of a tick-borne illness, is still no guarantee that you will not contract a tick-borne disease if bitten by a tick.  See your doctor if you experience any flu-like symptoms after being bitten.
